Ultra X World Championships 2021: Mexico 2019 Qualifiers

Written By Chris Taylor
Chris is Operations Manager at Ultra X and takes the lead on planning new races and events. His interests include (and are limited to): ultra running, plant-based foods to eat whilst ultra running, and ultra running with dogs.
From 2021, Ultra X will host the Ultra X World Championships — a 250km, five day race between the greatest multi-stage ultra runners in the world. Taking place every two years, the event will bring together the current best performers, each of whom must qualify for entry by competing in other Ultra X races (see qualification rules). The first World Championships will be held in the summer of 2021 with the location and prize pot to be announced soon.
Ultra X Mexico 2019 was the third and final qualifying event of this year (there will be three more next year) and it was a truly unforgettable week in the canyons. Competitors from 12 different countries competed against a group of local runners from the legendary Tarahumara tribe to determine who would become the King and Queen of the Copper Canyon. It was a closely fought battle from start to finish with just a few minutes separating the stage winners each day. Check out the final results.
