“Having grown up in Scotland and being naturally familiar with the country, it is easy to forget how beautiful the wilderness really is. So when the opportunity arose to spend two days running around the iconic Loch Ness and embrace everything my motherland had to offer, it was a no-brainier! The intense climbs become worth it when you see the incredible views over the Loch as you wind your way down from Inverness to Fort Augustus and back, via the incredible trail laid out by Ultra X that shows off Scotland in all its glory! The cameraderie and support received at checkpoints and from other competitors kept me going right to the final step of the 125km! There really is no better way to push your limits and get to know yourself, while taking part in a truly unique experience. Bring on the next one… Sri Lanka 2022 anyone?”

“The 125km Ultra X Scotland event was my first ever race of any kind and I could not have had a better experience. The event was very well organised and the crew made both experienced and new runners feel at home. Having medics and osteopaths at checkpoints and the campsite made me feel comfortable finding and pushing my limits. The location was great as well, racing around Loch Ness was beautiful and I can’t wait to experience other Ultra X locations.”

“Well, Ultra X Scotland… this was the most rewarding race I’ve ever completed. Saturday’s struggles, allowed Sunday’s glory to be multiplied. The course was beautiful, challenging, and rewarding. Nature at its finest. The people, even better. Ultra marathons are genuinely life changing. Ultra X ultra marathons are that and more. They think of everything, and the community, the volunteers, the medical teams are simply, world class. Sign up for one. If you do it, I’ll do it with you!”

Experience the Scottish Highlands

We understand that competitors may wish to travel to the Scottish Highlands with family or friends. Should they wish to enjoy the region while you race, we highly recommend visiting the following sights. Alternatively, you can visit them together after the event.

If one of your party would like to volunteer at the race while you take part, they can complete the Volunteer Application Form and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Ben Nevis

Britain's highest peak at 1,345 metres, Ben Nevis dominates the Fort William skyline. Whether you tackle the summit or simply admire it from below, this iconic mountain represents the raw power and grandeur of the Scottish Highlands.

Cairngorms National Park

The UK's largest national park, spanning 4,528 square kilometres of mountains, forests, rivers, and moorlands. Home to rare wildlife including golden eagles, red squirrels, and wildcats, it's a landscape that demands exploration.

Loch Ness

The UK's largest body of freshwater by volume, stretching 36km through the Great Glen. Famous for its mythical resident, but even more remarkable for its dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and mirror-still mornings.
