In November 2019, a group of runners headed to the Mexican state of Chihuahua to race in the inaugural Ultra X Mexico. The 250km, five day ultra marathon took runners from the “magic town” of Creel to the “magic town” of Batopilas, deep in the Copper Canyons.
It was an incredibly special event, set on the same trails as the famous Caballo Blanco race featured in the book Born to Run and did not follow the script many were expecting…
The 2020 edition will take place between the 7th and 14th November and is limited to 70 participants. Registration is now open and you can find out more by following the link below.
Itinerary
Here is a brief run-through of the week for those unfamiliar:
Saturday 7th November: Land in Chihuahua, MexicoSunday 8th November: Race registration, kit checks and coach transfer down to the canyons
Monday: 47kmTuesday: 46kmWednesday: 52kmThursday: 65kmFriday: 40km followed by prize giving, traditional Rámaruri BBQ, and celebratory drinks in Batopilas
Saturday 14th November: Coach transfers back to ChihuahuaSunday 15th November: Flights depart home
