Instagram Live With Ultra X Pro Athlete Pau Capell

Sam is one of the Ultra X Co-Founders. If he's not actually out running, chances are he's busy writing about it (or plotting Ultra X strategy!)
After a soccer injury in 2012 seriously damaged his knee and ligaments, doctors suggested Pau Capell run and train in the mountains as his recovery. Less than a year later, the 27-year-old from Sant Boi de Llobregat in Barcelona won his first trail event, while also competing in triathlons, duathlons and the Barcelona Marathon, which he finished in 2 hours 58 minutes.
In 2014, Pau started to compete in longer events and won seven races. The longer and tougher the race, the better he did. The rest, as they say, is history… he is now UTMB champion and current course record holder for this iconic race. He is also an Ultra X Pro Athlete.
We chatted about what it’s like to live and train as a professional ultra runner in the interview below.
