The Spring Trail Series takes place on the Serpent Trail, a stunning route that weaves through the greensand hills, rivers, woodland, and lowland heath of the South Downs National Park. It is a habitat which is rarer than rainforest and home to a variety of rare and endangered species.
The Spring Trail Series offers three race distances: 75km, 50km and 25km.
As is always the case with Ultra X events, these are far more than just races, they are awesome experiences. At the start/finish there will be an expo selling merchandise, hot drinks, food and much more. You are actively encouraged to stay on after your race and enjoy the festivities, BBQ and bar.
Runners will be able to purchase camping at the event village for the Friday and Saturday night at registration. Showers and toilets are available as is the option to hire a tent from Ultra X.
All races are held under full UK Athletics permit granted through the TRA.

What happens when you register
Once you have registered for a race;
You will be sent an email inviting you to a call with a member of our team. This is by no means mandatory but it will allow you to ask us any questions you may have regarding the event, training, food, equipment and anything else at all. We’re a really friendly bunch and love getting to know our runners before we meet you in person.
You will be asked if you would like to be added to the competitor Facebook and Whatsapp groups. Of course you do not have to but they are a great way to get to know your fellow competitors before you reach the start line.
Cut offs
We have very relaxed cut-offs. To us, it’s not about what time you get, it’s the adventure you have along the way. On average you will have 2hrs to complete each 10km (in-between checkpoints). Exact race cut-offs can be found in the race information pack.
If you don’t finish
In the scenario that you cannot finish a stage at one of our events, you will be offered entry into the following edition of the race at half price. You will not receive a finishers medal or official result.

As part of the ‘Pounds for the Downs’ scheme, Ultra X are donating £1 per participant to the South Downs National Park Trust, which invests in projects that protect and enhance special places like the Serpent Trail. We are also encouraging participants to make a further voluntary donation, which can be added at checkout.
