Ultra X Madeira

110KM/2DAYS or 50km/1 day

2-3 Nov 2024

Ultra X Madeira is an event that takes place in and around Madeira. Madeira is an autonomous Portuguese island and the largest and most populous of the Madeira Archipelago (Porto Santo and the Desertas being the others). It offers two races: Ultra X 110 Madeira and Ultra X 50 Madeira.

The island is an oasis of green, with incredible natural pools carved out of lava rocks, gorgeous cliffs overlooking the North Atlantic Ocean and charming towns. It is located in a region known as Macaronesia, just under 400 kilometres to the north of the Canary Islands and 520 kilometres west of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Taking part in mid November, the climate conditions for the race should be temperate, with lows of around 9°C and highs of 21°C.

Ultra X 50 Madeira takes place on the second day (Sunday) of Ultra X 110 Madeira.

What happens when you register

Once you have registered for a race;

You will be sent an email inviting you to a call with a member of our team. This is by no means mandatory but it will allow you to ask us any questions you may have regarding the event, training, food, equipment and anything else at all. We’re a really friendly bunch and love getting to know our runners before we meet you in person.

You will be asked if you would like to be added to the competitor Facebook group. Of course you do not have to but they are a great way to get to know your fellow competitors before you reach the start line.

Cut offs

We have very relaxed cut offs. To us, it’s not about what time you get, it’s the adventure you have along the way. You will have between 2hrs 30 mins and 4 hours to complete each 10km (in-between checkpoints). Exact race cut-offs can be found in the race information pack.

If you don’t finish

In the scenario that you cannot finish a stage at one of our events, you will be offered entry into the following edition of the race at half price. You will not receive a finishers medal or official result.

Experience Madeira

We understand that competitors may wish to travel to Madeira with family or friends. Should they wish to enjoy the islands while you race, we highly recommend visiting the following sights. Alternatively, you can visit them together after the event.

If one of your party would like to volunteer at the race while you take part, they can complete the Volunteer Application Form and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Visit the beautiful, soft and fine black sand covering Seixal Beach, with its stunning mountain backdrop featuring ridges and waterfalls.

Madeira’s waters boast an array of marine life, take a boat tour and benefit from your crew’s local experience that offers intimate encounters with cetaceans.

Located in a historical building in the very centre of Funchal, Blandy’s Wine Lodge has been the heart of the family’s wine business for 7 generations, ageing the finest Madeira wines in a traditional canteiro method.
