Ultra X Scotland 2027 Ballot – FAQs

Ultra X Scotland has rapidly become one of the most sought-after trail running events in the UK. For 2027, demand has reached a level where we are introducing a ballot for entry.

This ensures a fair process for accessing the best-priced places, while allowing us to maintain the quality and experience that define Ultra X.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know.

Why is there a ballot for 2027?

Demand for Ultra X Scotland has grown significantly.

Introducing a ballot allows us to allocate places fairly while protecting the integrity of the event as it continues to scale.

How does the Ultra X Scotland ballot work?

The process is simple:

  • Enter your details before the deadline
  • No payment is taken at this stage
  • After the ballot closes, entries are randomly selected
  • If successful, your card will be charged automatically
  • If unsuccessful, you will not be charged

Key dates for the 2027 ballot

  • Ballot opens: Sunday 26th April at 18:00 BST
  • Ballot closes: Tuesday 5th May at 23:59 BST
  • Ballot draw: Thursday 7th May at 12:00 BST

Entry, payment and pricing

Will I be charged when I enter?

No. You will only be charged if your entry is successful.

What happens if I am unsuccessful?

You will not be charged. Your entry will remain visible in your account, marked as unsuccessful.

Is there an advantage to entering the ballot?

Yes. Ballot entrants receive the best available pricing for the event.

Can I choose a payment plan?

Yes. Payment plans of up to 9 months are available and can be selected during entry.

Can I use credits or promo codes?

Yes. These can be applied during entry and will only be processed if your ballot entry is successful.

Guaranteed entry options

There are a small number of ways to secure a guaranteed place:

  • Fundraise for one of our partner charities
  • Enter as part of the 2027 GB Slam (see below)

If selecting one of these options, you should still complete a ballot entry and choose the relevant pathway. Confirmation of your place will be provided once the ballot is drawn.

2027 GB Slam

For 2027, participants can enter Ultra X Scotland, Ultra X England and Ultra X Wales in one go.

There are two options:

  • Full Slam (£600): Access to any distance
  • Half Slam (£325): Access to any 60km, 50km, 25km or Dash distance

Both options represent approximately a 30% saving.

Provisional 2027 dates:

  • Ultra X Wales: 24th–25th July
  • Ultra X England: 18th–19th September

Please note these are subject to change.

Are charity places included in the ballot?

If you choose to fundraise for a partner charity, your place will be guaranteed.

Are U23 places included?

No. U23 places for 2027 will be released later in 2026.

Will there be another chance to enter?

Potentially. If places remain after the ballot, entries may reopen at a later date.
